popular. i know about pop-yoo-lar.

well, at least i will soon. i finally managed to rope the hub into taking me and the kid to see "wicked". i've been wanting to see it since before it came around to l.a., and i'd gotten wind of a half-off on weekdays promo through february. so i caught up with him on IM yesterday while he was still at the office - in a great mood due to a really good day - and when he heard "half off", i got the green light. woo-hoo!

we've now got seats in center mezzanine, row e. we're taking the kid, who's been kind of "meh" about the idea, but i just know that once we get there, she'll be more excited. kind of like how she felt about the bean. ha!

plus, we've made early dinner reservations at two different spots - simon|l.a. (solely for the purpose of their junk-food platter) and eat.on.sunset. we considered ketchup, too, because the kid is a big fan of "the hills", but now that i've perused all three menus (and considered their locations), i think eat.on.sunset is the winner. although i think i'll let her check out the menus and make the final decision. but if y'all have other recs, or want to throw your opinion of these three my way, i'd love to hear from ya.

i bought a bouncy seat for the bean a while ago that she likes to sit in when i need to do stuff, like shower or laundry or something equally exciting. it's got a nice pillow for her nugget, fun toys dangling above for her to look at, and a soothing vibration feature that makes me wish i could fit into this thing [get yer mind outta the gutter, i could use a good massage].

anyway, the toy in the middle has a little handle that you tug on to hear about five seconds of music. it's that tinny-sounding, somewhat annoying electronic music, but the bean is pretty easily amused these days. and up till now, we've had to pull on it for her, but as i mentioned last week, she's started grabbing toys that are within her reach. so yesterday, she was sitting in there and it wasn't long before she tugged on that toy and got the music to play - all by her little self! and of course, i took a picture of this momentous event:

yes, that's an eyepatch. no, she's not really wearing one. and you know that her peepers usually sport a color-coordinated bar over them. but this picture only shows one of her eyeballs, so i decided to make her a pirate. a pirate wearing pink, sitting in a vibrating bouncy chair, reaching for a musical butterfly. if this doesn't make a lick of sense to you, you obviously don't know me. you don't know me AT ALL!!

oh, and i forgot to give my folks a shout-out yesterday - it was their 20th wedding anniversary. oops! but they're off on a cruise anyway, so it's not like they'd really know. so, happy anniversary to the folks - hope you're having a wonderful time! and we're headed to lawry's along with the sibs in a couple of weeks to celebrate the occasion. mmm, scrumptious!

as always, food dominates my world. and i like it that way.
