r is fo rental car. which I totally screwed up the reservation for, booking it for the day before we actually needed it. oops. this caused a bit of panic as it was the car we were taking from NYC to florida, and we were on a tight schedule as it was. luckily, hot-wire came through and saved my ass, offering the same rates as before. still, d-oh!
o is for orlando, our second-to-last stop. of course, we're squeezing in a stop at disney world for a day. heh.
a is for the algonquin hotel, which served as our NYC home for two nights. there was only one bed, and the room was the size of a postage stamp, but it was nice and in a great location.
d is for driving, and we've done a shitload of it. by the time we turn the car in on saturday, we'll have covered roughly 1,500 miles. the teen is ready to kill herself. or us, probably.
t is for trees. I was warned abut the abundance of 'em as we made our way down I-95, but I underestimated the accuracy of the statement. damn. not a damn thing for miles and miles but freaking trees.
r is for rhode island, unexpectedly one of our favorite stops. i never realized how beautiful this little state was. and wow, the mansions are breathtaking.
i is for interesting. that's the word that best describes our assessment of myrtle beach. and that's all I've got to say about that.
p is for priceline! we've used it for every night's hotel stay, often booking just hours before we checked in. and we've saved a crapload of cash doing it that way.
i can't believe it's almost over. it's been so much dang fun. i just wish the bean were old enough to remember it.
at least I've taken enough pics to show her. heh.
sounds like the wan's are having a fabulous time! can't wait to see pictures :)
ReplyDeleteRad.
ReplyDeleteYou should have stopped by. We had a ton of food and a house full of kids that participated in the 4th parade. Did I mention wine and chocolate?
ReplyDeletesounds like an amazing, whirlwind trip! i can only imagine what special memories you're making.
ReplyDeletebtw, you should check out www.disneyfoodblog.com for tips on where to find the best snacks, meals, etc. at WDW. i'm looking forward to reading your post on that. i can't wait to take my little gal there next year! :)
Dude, you have got to share your stories re: Myrtle Beach. All this teasing is driving me insane. Man, I miss the east coast.
ReplyDeleteStay cool!
Yep, Priceline is clutch in road trip situations. Hotwire also saved my butt a couple of times when I waited even too long for Priceline!
ReplyDeleteAlso, The Algonquin is fab. The only thing that skeeved me out a bit is the cat in the lobby. I am so not a cat person!
"t is for trees. I was warned abut the abundance of 'em as we made our way down I-95, but I underestimated the accuracy of the statement. damn. not a damn thing for miles and miles but freaking trees. "
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh. The hubs and I got stuck in terrible traffic in northern CT on I-95 for several hours on Monday. There was nothing to look at. Trees, trees, and more trees.
Yeah, I want to know about Myrtle Beach. I remember a national dance competition being held there and the parents debating whether or not to have us all go. The decision was ultimately no, but it sounded fun at the time.
