the bean was super antsy to bust out that coveted easy bake oven, so with grandma to help her, she carefully opened the box and began inspecting the contents.
with so many different mixes to pick from (pretzel bites, red velvet cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, etc.) she decided to go with the mini whoopie pies. after reading the instructions, she cut open the bag and got to work on mixing it up.
after a little bit of work, she managed to get it mixed into a workable dough. i was pretty amused at how small the ball was, considering this was supposed to yield six filled whoopie pies.
i mean, look at the size of the little balls she was placing on that barely-bigger-than-a-postage-stamp sized baking pan:
with the oven preheated for 20 minutes per the instructions, she carefully slid the pan inside using the pushing tool.
when the first batch was baked and cooled, she mixed the vanilla filling up and made the tiny sandwiches.
she was super proud of her efforts, and rightfully so.
i got to try one, and i have to admit, it was pretty tasty. but so small! i mean...
i can't wait to see what she makes next. and now i'm going to look up all those old websites i'd pored over years ago that offer homemade (cheap) versions of recipes for this thing. i'll get to live out a childhood dream after all!
