dis tew much

once the bean was back home from all of our summer travels, we focused on having as much fun as we could.  our first outing was out to yama seafood to pick out some fresh fish and have an amazing sushi feast at home:

we also hit up our favorite sushi spot, because can you ever have enough sushi?

the dogs were really happy that they were home too.  they were particularly excited about the doggy ice cream we found for them in the freezer.

one day we took a day trip out to little tokyo for some udon at our favorite place:

and we caught a glimpse of the shohei ohtani mural.

we hit up disneyland at least twice - once with just the two of us, and another time with all five of us (and i’m kicking myself for not getting a family photo while we were there).

we had fun drawing at the animation academy:

the hub and i tried the ridiculously overpriced erewhon smoothies - as much as i don’t like eating fruit, i do love a good smoothie.

it was good to get back into the fitness routine too.

we decided to try something new together - bungee fitness.  i thought it was super fun, but the studio is in an empty warehouse with no a/c and we were dying.  maybe we’ll revisit it once the weather cools off again.

we spent time with friends too - one of the bean’s besties came with us to watch the new deadpool movie, and i got to have brunch with a group of my favorite people.

and for the last six weeks of summer, the bean got in a little work experience with their first job at a little burger shop called in-n-out.

we’re incredibly proud, and while it only lasted through the summer (and just a couple of weekends into the new school year), the experience taught them a lot.  there’s a lot to be said about working a fast-food job, especially at an incredibly busy, popular spot like in-n-out.  the bean learned some valuable skills - writing a resume, interviewing, completing employee paperwork, taking a course to earn a food handler’s permit.  and then there’s working as a team, how to deal with different personalities via co-workers and managers, customer service skills, and the basic tasks like mopping and cleaning counters and tables - all with a smile.

earning a paycheck and their driver’s license all in the span of less than six months - not to mention starting their junior year of high school.  phew.  it’s all going by so fast, and my baby is truly growing up and becoming a young adult.

*aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh*
