when the bean found out there was going to be a meteor shower one summer night, the hub suggested we all hop in the truck and head out to the desert to get a good look at it.
sounded like a great idea to me. besides, what else did we have to do?
i ended up falling asleep on the drive out (which is very VERY typical of me). and when we got out there, the two of them went out to sit in the back of the truck and spent some great quality time together, which was nice.
it was beautiful and warm and breezy out there…a perfect summer evening.
i finally woke up from my late night nap and went out there to watch the show. it was so cool to be out there in the middle of nowhere, watching the flashes of light as the meteor shower went on above us.
i remember thinking “this is a core memory…one to pull out later on, when the bean is off to college.” it’s kind of killing me as i think of how fast these days are flying by. i wish i could turn the clock back, or at least stop it for a bit. don’t get me wrong - i’m excited to see what the future holds for my family because i know there’s a lot of good stuff coming. it’s just coming a little too hard and fast for my liking.
all we were missing was the old lady and the old man.
that’s okay. we still have a lot of memories to make together.
